Name of Wine: Rosso della Porticcia 2008 Producer: Casale Pozzuolo Summary: A lively ruby red with warm garnet tones. Pairs well with stews, grilled meats, aged cheese. Alcohol: 13.5% Location/appellation: Montecucco DOC Grape varieties: 100% Sangiovese Exposure: Southeast Altitude: 300 metres / 1000 feet above sea level Soil: Galestro (clay and shale) and terra rossa (clay produced by weathering of limestone) Vineyard Management & Training: Cordone speronato Vinification: Average age of the vineyards: 11 years. Natural fermentation without the use of selected yeasts, 27 days of skin contact. Aged briefly in oak casks. Smells & Tastes: Full but with much finesse on the nose and with ample notes of berry fruit and delicate spices. Large-scale, warm, and velvety in texture. In this wine, as well, there is an excellent balance between softness and warmth, tannins and acidity.
